Job description

Who we are

Spencer West is a leading full-service international law firm, built around a values‑led and modern approach to legal practice. We advise businesses and individuals across jurisdictions, combining technical excellence with commercial insight and a genuinely collaborative culture. Our core values of collaboration, entrepreneurship and excellence underpin everything we do.

We are proud to be globally connected and locally invested. Our international community of 360+ partners, in more than 25 jurisdictions works seamlessly across borders while remaining culturally aware and actively engaged in the local communities in which we operate. With an international presence and a global outlook, Spencer West delivers comprehensive legal advice without the constraints of the traditional law firm model.

Your practice, your clients, your terms.

Spencer West is an international law firm with 360+ partners across 25+ jurisdictions, recognised in Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500. We are expanding our corporate offering and want to speak with senior corporate lawyers who are ready to take control of their careers.

This is a fee share opportunity, not a salaried role. You run your own practice, keep the rewards of the work you do and the business you generate, and draw on a firm infrastructure that handles the things that slow lawyers down.

Why Employment lawyers join us

  • Reward that reflects what you bring. Transparent, fee-share economics
  • A genuine corporate pipeline. Our international network generates cross-border referrals, including transactional employment, litigation and employment disputes, incentives, pensions & tax from colleagues in 25+ jurisdictions.
  • Freedom to practise your way. Choose where, when and how you work, with no rigid hierarchy.
  • Back office taken care of. Practice management, accounts, marketing, technology and office facilities across our network.
  • Build a team or stay independent. Whether you want to practise alone or grow your own team, we back both.
  • Collaborative, not corporate. Our values of collaboration, entrepreneurship and excellence mean you’ll have colleagues to share work and ideas with, not just a platform.

Who we look for

We are interested in speaking with experienced lawyers who want the autonomy of running their own practice while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive professional community.

Legal expertise: You will be an established and respected lawyer, typically with at least 8 years' post-qualification experience. Our partners come from leading City, national and international firms, senior in-house positions, boutique practices and independent firms.

Entrepreneurial mindset: You are excited by the prospect of building your own practice and taking greater ownership of your professional future. You may be looking to operate as an individual practitioner or have ambitions to build and grow a team around you.

Client-centric: You will have an established or developing client following and enjoy building long-term client relationships. While Spencer West provides a highly collaborative environment, strong internal referral networks and opportunities to work with colleagues across jurisdictions and practice areas, partners are expected to generate and grow their own client relationships and sources of work. This opportunity is best suited to lawyers who are excited by the prospect of building their own practice and taking ownership of its success.

Collaborative approach: While you value independence, you do not want to work in isolation. You enjoy sharing ideas, introducing opportunities, collaborating with trusted colleagues and being part of a community of like-minded professionals.

Essential Requirements

  • An active practising certificate/ license to practice law with no restrictions
  • Willingness to operate on a self‑employed basis (as a sole trader or via a limited company – your choice)
  • Able to work remote first or work from one of our local offices

Our recruitment process

Simple and quick: an introductory call with the TA team, conversations with senior colleagues (virtual or in person), background checks, then onboarding with our marketing, accounts and technology teams.

If you are looking for a firm that allows you to practise at the highest level, grow your business, and work on your own terms, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV online to be considered.
