Teacher of Science – Secondary Academy in Manchester(January Start)

A modern secondary academy in Manchester is seeking an inspiring Teacher of Science to join its dedicated STEM faculty on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January. Job Overview Science is a key focus within this academy's curriculum development plan. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined & Separate Science), with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 A-Level Biology, Chemistry, or Physics depending on subject specialism. Working alongside a collaborative STEM team and experienced laboratory technicians, you will guide pupils through safe laboratory experimentation, data analysis, and examination preparation. This is a full-time, permanent contract starting in January. Key Responsibilities Teach engaging practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5 Plan and execute safe laboratory experiments in full compliance with CLEAPSS health and safety standards Prepare pupils for GCSE and A-Level required practical assessments, data interpretation, and written examinations Maintain laboratory spaces, scientific equipment, and chemical inventories safely alongside department technicians Assess, track, and report on student progress using formal assessments, mock examinations, and classwork Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing, academic progress, and personal development Role Overview & Specifications Start Date: January Contract Type: Full-time, permanent contract Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester Salary / Pay Rate: MPS / UPS equivalent Key Curriculum: AQA / Edexcel Science Candidate Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT) Honors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related scientific discipline Proven track record (or strong potential during training) for delivering positive outcomes at GCSE and A-Level Strong practical laboratory skills and up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS laboratory safety guidelines An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) How to Apply: Please send your CV at your earliest convenience to be considered for this full-time, permanent Science Teacher position in Manchester for a January start.
