Previous experience working in a school science department is essential.

About the Role

• Prepare apparatus, chemicals and practical resources according to teachers' lesson plans.

• Set up laboratory equipment before lessons and clear away materials afterwards.

• Maintain appropriate stock levels and assist with ordering consumables.

• Check equipment for damage and report faults or maintenance requirements.

• Follow established procedures for chemical storage, labelling and disposal.

• Maintain laboratory preparation areas and ensure equipment is stored safely.

• Support the completion of routine safety checks and relevant documentation.

• Work with science teachers to ensure practical activities are properly prepared and resourced.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school is essential.

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and practical science preparation.

• A good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• The ability to prioritise multiple lesson preparations throughout the day.

• Confidence communicating with teachers and other department staff.

• A responsible approach to handling equipment, chemicals and confidential information.

An enhanced DBS check will be required in accordance with the role.
