Job description

At Kendall Kingscott, you'll join a respected multidisciplinary consultancy with a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional projects across a diverse range of sectors. As a Senior Construction Project Manager, you will lead complex and high-value developments from inception to completion, providing the leadership, commercial oversight and strategic direction needed to achieve outstanding outcomes for our clients while developing trusted, long-term relationships.

This is more than a project delivery role. It's an opportunity to influence key decisions, lead talented project teams and play a pivotal role in shaping the built environment. You'll enjoy genuine autonomy, exposure to a varied portfolio of challenging projects and the chance to contribute to the continued growth and success of the business, all within a collaborative, supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Team role

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, coordinated solutions and exceptional project outcomes across a range of sectors.
  • Provide technical, commercial and project management expertise, supporting successful project delivery and the development of colleagues.
  • Lead by example, sharing knowledge, taking ownership and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and colleagues, helping to create long-term value for clients and the business.
  • Support the growth and reputation of the business through professional leadership, exceptional client service and a commitment to quality.

Individual Duties

  • Lead projects through the full lifecycle, establishing scope, delivery strategy, governance, programmes, budgets and measurable success criteria, while managing multiple projects or workstreams and prioritising resources to meet business needs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating architects, engineers, cost consultants, contractors, suppliers, statutory bodies and internal stakeholders, and chairing project, design, progress and risk meetings to drive effective decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, monitoring critical paths, implementing recovery plans where required, and maintaining control of project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, risks and change management processes.
  • Lead procurement activities, including tendering, evaluation, appointment and performance management of consultants and contractors, while administering or overseeing JCT and/or NEC contracts, including valuations, variations, extensions of time and claims.
  • Champion a strong culture of health, safety, wellbeing and quality, ensuring compliance with CDM 2015, statutory requirements and project governance procedures, and overseeing inspections, testing, defect management and completion standards.
  • Coordinate planning, Building Regulations, landlord, utility, environmental and other statutory approvals, ensuring project records, audits, handover information, operation and maintenance manuals and health and safety documentation are complete and accurately maintained.

Skills and requirements

  • Proven experience leading medium to large-scale, complex construction projects, with the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, stakeholders and project objectives.
  • Strong leadership and relationship management skills, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors and senior client stakeholders.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, communication and problem-solving abilities, supported by sound judgement and a proactive approach to project delivery.
  • Proficient in project planning, reporting and document management systems, with strong Microsoft Office and project scheduling software skills.
  • Degree-qualified, professionally qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent experience in construction, engineering, surveying or project management.
  • Chartered membership of CIOB, RICS, APM or a relevant professional institution is desirable.
  • APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP or an equivalent project management qualification is desirable.

Knowledge & Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, design coordination, procurement and project delivery processes.
  • Construction contracts (including JCT and NEC), commercial management and project controls.
  • UK health and safety legislation, CDM 2015, Building Regulations and associated statutory requirements.
  • Microsoft 365 applications and project planning, scheduling and document management systems.
  • BIM principles and collaborative digital project delivery.
