Job Title: School Premises Assistant Location: Basingstoke, Hampshire Salary: Dependent on experience Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: ASAP About the School A well-established academy in Basingstoke is looking to appoint a practical and reliable Premises Assistant to support the maintenance and day-to-day operation of its school site. The academy has a busy environment with classrooms, specialist teaching areas, sports facilities, offices and outdoor spaces used by pupils and staff throughout the day. The premises team plays an important role in ensuring the buildings remain secure, presentable and suitable for teaching and learning. The school is looking for someone with previous experience maintaining premises within an educational environment who can work effectively as part of an existing site team. About the Role Responsibilities will include: Carrying out routine checks of school buildings and grounds. Completing minor repairs and general maintenance. Assisting with opening and securing the school site. Preparing rooms for meetings, examinations and school events. Moving furniture and equipment between departments. Checking that corridors, entrances and external areas remain safe. Monitoring maintenance supplies and reporting stock requirements. Assisting with contractor access and deliveries. Supporting health and safety inspections. Reporting defects and arranging specialist repairs where necessary. Helping maintain outdoor areas and playgrounds. Following school security procedures and reporting potential hazards. Supporting the wider premises team during busy periods. The Ideal Candidate Previous experience in school premises, caretaking or facilities support is essential. Candidates should have practical maintenance skills and understand the importance of safeguarding, site security and health and safety when working around pupils. An enhanced DBS will be required.
