Temporary Litter Picker / Street Cleansing Operative\n

Position: Temporary Litter Picker / Environmental Operative

\n

Hourly Rate: £14.24 per hour - inc holiday pay- 08:00 - 13:00 - Monday - Saturday

\n

Contract Duration: 4th November- 18th November (Fixed-Term / Seasonal)

\n

Location: On-site - LE2

Key Responsibilities\n

\n
• \n

  Litter Collection: Systematically patrol designated routes or event spaces to collect waste using manual litter pickers, hoops, and sacks.

\n
• \n

  Waste Management & Bin Maintenance: Regularly empty public and site litter/dog waste bins, ensuring waste sacks are correctly tied, sorted, and disposed of in designated skip/compactor areas.

\n
• \n

  Hand Sweeping & Detritus Removal: Use brooms, shovels, and barrows to sweep pavements, edges, and high-footfall areas to remove glass, debris, and fallen leaves.

\n
• \n

  Hazard & Issue Reporting: Identify and report fly-tipping, broken glass, sharp objects, damaged site furniture, or graffiti to site supervisors immediately.

\n
• \n

  Public Interaction: Act as a courteous and helpful representative of the organization when in contact with members of the public, residents, or visitors.

\n
• \n

  Health & Safety Compliance: Consistently wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (Hi-Vis, safety boots, puncture-resistant gloves) and follow strict COSHH and manual handling guidelines.

Key Requirements & Qualifications\n

• \n

  Physical Fitness: Ability to walk extensive distances (several miles daily), bend, lift, and work active shifts outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• \n

  Reliability & Punctuality: Essential requirement to commit fully to the entire contract duration (4th November- 18th November).

\n
• \n

  Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, self-motivation to stay productive without constant direct supervision, and good time management.

\n
