About the Role

As a Teacher of Science, you will inspire students' natural curiosity about the physical, chemical, and biological world. You will deliver a rich, enquiry-led science curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined & Triple Science), with the potential to teach your specialist discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) at Key Stage 5 (A-Level). Utilizing modern, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, you will seamlessly combine theoretical concepts with hands-on practical experimentation.

  • Start Date: Immediate or upcoming term

  • Environment: A premier independent school celebrated for its academic excellence, small class sizes, and state-of-the-art science laboratories

  • Culture: A collaborative, professional, and welcoming workplace supported by dedicated science technicians and an approachable leadership network

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute high-impact, interactive Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, fostering analytical thinking and a strong understanding of scientific methods.

  • Teach your primary scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) up to GCSE and A-Level standards, preparing students for national examinations.

  • Lead safe, engaging laboratory experiments, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols (CLEAPSS guidelines).

  • Track, assess, and evaluate student academic performance, delivering targeted feedback to stretch gifted students while supporting developing learners.

  • Contribute to departmental enrichment, including STEM fairs, science Olympiads, field studies, and extra-curricular science clubs.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.

  • A strong academic degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related scientific field.

  • Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Science teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5/A-Level experience is a distinct advantage).

  • Solid understanding of national science curricula and examination board requirements (e.g., AQA, Edexcel).

  • Exceptional classroom management, communication skills, and a genuine commitment to raising academic standards within an independent school ethos.

Salary & Benefits

  • Pay Scale: Highly competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications, reflective of independent school standards.

  • Excellent professional development opportunities, generous PPA time, small class sizes, and access to top-tier school amenities.
