Umbrella - £19.64 per hour - Umbrella

Job Purpose

As an NLGV Driver Operative, you will support Civic Pride and environmental services by driving non-HGV vehicles and carrying out street cleansing, environmental maintenance, and public realm improvement activities across the borough.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

• Drive NLGV vehicles and operate cleansing equipment.

• Carry out street cleansing and environmental maintenance duties.

• Remove litter, fly-tipping and environmental waste.

• Empty litter and dog waste bins.

• Support Civic Pride improvement projects.

• Operate mechanical sweepers and other cleansing equipment.

• Undertake manual labour and outdoor duties in all weather conditions.

• Complete vehicle safety inspections and daily checks.

• Maintain accurate records of work completed.

• Support environmental and public realm improvement initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures.

• Work effectively as part of a team to maintain public spaces.

Essential Experience Required

• Full UK Driving Licence.

• Previous experience in manual labour, environmental services, street cleansing or grounds maintenance.

• Experience driving light commercial vehicles.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication skills.

• Reliable and flexible approach to work.

Additional Information to Note

• Working Hours: 37 hours per week.

• Shift Pattern: 14:00 - 22:00.

• West Thurrock, Essex, RM20 3ED.

• Driving Licence Required.

• Data Protection Level 1 Training desirable

• Informal 30-minute interview.

• Interview Date: 23rd October 2026.

• Supplier Submission Deadline: 23rd October 2026.
