Job description

Joining Arup

Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The UK is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation of its energy, water and infrastructure systems. At Arup, we're helping clients deliver the projects and programmes that will support a more sustainable, resilient and prosperous future. The challenges facing infrastructure today require bold thinking, collaborative leadership and a commitment to positive change.

The Opportunity

Arup’s Civil Engineering team is looking to recruit a Senior BIM Specialist to join our growing Infrastructure team in the Liverpool office, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant infrastructure projects across the energy and water sectors, as well as regional and local schemes that improve connectivity, resilience and quality of life for communities.

The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of model development, support multidisciplinary digital delivery and contribute to the advancement of BIM best practice and digital innovation across the team. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, technicians and digital specialists to deliver high-quality, coordinated BIM models and technical outputs for a range of infrastructure projects, including highways, utilities, drainage, earthworks and major civil structures.

You will lead the development of detailed civil engineering models and drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D and Navisworks within the Autodesk Construction Cloud environment. You will support clash detection and multidisciplinary model coordination, ensuring project information is accurate, consistent and aligned with BIM Execution Plans and ISO 19650 requirements. You will also help maintain model data structures, attribute information and digital standards to ensure quality and consistency throughout the project lifecycle.

In addition, you will support the setup and management of Common Data Environments, project templates and digital workflows. Working with colleagues across the business, you will help embed Arup’s digital processes, promote efficient modelling practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of digital delivery across our infrastructure projects.

Is this role right for you?

To thrive in this role, you should have a strong blend of technical capability, digital fluency and collaborative communication skills. You will be comfortable operating within multidisciplinary teams, confident in solving modelling challenges, and motivated by opportunities to innovate in digital delivery.

  • Competent in Autodesk Civil 3D, including surfaces, corridors, pipe networks, grading and Subassembly Composer development.
  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination. Familiarity with ReCap, InfraWorks and InfoDrainage is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 19650, local BIM standards and Common Data Environments, particularly Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Bentley ProjectWise.
  • Ability to conduct model audits, verify data accuracy and ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plans.
  • Minimum HNC in Civil Engineering, Digital Construction Modelling or a related discipline; HND or degree also accepted.
