Barista & Smoothie Maker

Hemma Social is a new neighbourhood café and family space at 14 Tandy Place, East Village, London E20 3AS, aiming to open on 16–18 November 2026. We are hiring a Barista & Smoothie Maker to take care of our drinks station. This is a separate position alongside our Kitchen Prep / Café Cook and Floor / Café All-rounder.

You will make consistent coffee and smoothies, keep the bar clean and stocked, and offer a friendly welcome. Kitchen cooking and prep sit with the cook; table service, clearing and the family space sit with the floor colleague. Everyone works together during busy periods.

£15–£16 per hour base, depending on experience; 28–32 paid hours per week, permanent and on site. Weekend availability and paid pre-opening training are part of the role. Shifts are agreed in advance within those hours; you are not expected to cover all opening hours. The owner runs the business and organises the team.

• Dial in espresso, steam milk and prepare consistent coffee drinks.
• Prepare smoothies and other drinks to our recipes, with careful portioning and allergen handling.
• Clean and maintain the espresso machine, grinders, blender and drinks station.
• Monitor milk, fruit and drinks supplies, rotate stock and flag low items to the owner.
• Take drink orders, coordinate with the floor and kitchen colleagues, and keep service calm during busy periods.
