The Opportunity

\n

PPM Recruitment is representing a well-established and growing fit-out contractor operating within the fit-out and refurbishment market. Due to continued business growth, a strong pipeline of projects and positive market conditions, the company is looking to recruit an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to join its team in Stockport.

\n

The company delivers high-quality construction and fit-out schemes across a diverse range of sectors, including national retail, leisure, hotels, government, residential and commercial offices, with project values typically ranging from £1m to £5m.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious pre-construction professional to take a leading role in the tendering and project development process, manage the pre-construction team and work closely with Directors, clients, design teams and project delivery teams to secure and successfully develop new projects.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

• Lead, manage and develop the pre-construction team, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of tendering activities.
\n
• Provide strategic support to Directors and project leads during negotiations for existing and prospective projects.
\n
• Develop and implement effective bid strategies to maximise opportunities and secure new contracts.
\n
• Coordinate structured pre-construction meetings, ensuring clear communication, documented actions and agreed deliverables.
\n
• Manage the pre-construction process, ensuring project requirements, design information and tender submissions are coordinated within agreed timescales.
\n
• Assess project risks, viability, buildability and commercial feasibility in collaboration with the wider project team.
\n
• Work closely with clients, consultants and design teams to develop project proposals and resolve design-related issues.
\n
• Monitor and manage costs as designs develop, ensuring projects remain commercially viable and aligned with client budgets.
\n
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and provide commercially sound solutions.
\n
• Oversee the preparation and coordination of comprehensive design and tender packages for handover to the Contracts Managers.
\n
• Present tender proposals, project strategies and commercial solutions to clients and board-level stakeholders.
\n
• Establish and improve pre-construction processes to support the company's continued growth.

Requirements

\n

\n
• Proven experience as a Pre-Construction Manager, Senior Estimator or in a similar senior pre-construction role within a main contracting environment.
\n
• Strong experience delivering fit-out and refurbishment projects.
\n
• Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to assess project costs, risks, buildability and programme requirements.
\n
• Experience preparing and presenting tenders, delivering client pitches and negotiating at senior and board level.
\n
• Demonstrable experience managing teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders throughout the pre-construction process.
\n
• Excellent client-facing skills, with the confidence to build relationships and represent the business professionally.
\n
• A proactive approach to developing and implementing effective systems, procedures and working practices.
\n
• Strong leadership, organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
\n
• A stable career history and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
