Based in Glasgow with Hybrid working you will support commissioning delivery across project sites, with travel required to meet project needs. Please note we will be relocating to Stepps within 6 months of you joining.

You will lead the safe and effective commissioning of multidisciplinary projects, ensuring assets are tested, meet performance requirements and achieve successful client acceptance and handover.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of commissioning strategies, strengthen delivery processes and lead a team of commissioning engineers. You will work closely with project managers, planners, site teams, specialist subcontractors and clients to bring essential infrastructure into operation.

WGM Engineering is experiencing significant growth across the UK, delivering critical infrastructure projects across the water and industrial sectors. As part of RSK Group, we combine the scale and support of a wider group with the practical, hands-on approach of a specialist engineering delivery business.

Our teams work with major clients across regulated environments, supporting safe, sustainable and high-quality project delivery. We are focused on building long-term capability, strengthening our teams and creating opportunities for people to build meaningful careers.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead commissioning activities across the project portfolio, ensuring delivery meets programme requirements, technical specifications, quality standards and client acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning strategies, plans and procedures, improving how commissioning is coordinated and delivered.
  • Work with planning and project teams to develop commissioning programmes, identify dependencies and resolve construction issues affecting commissioning readiness.
  • Lead, coordinate and develop commissioning engineers and specialist subcontractors, setting clear objectives and maintaining high technical standards.
  • Review subcontractor commissioning plans, method statements and supporting documentation to ensure a coordinated and safe approach.
  • Coordinate factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing and integrated site acceptance testing, including witnessing arrangements and completion records.
  • Monitor installation quality and readiness for commissioning, working with construction teams to resolve defects and technical issues.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, test records and handover deliverables in line with client specifications.
  • Promote health, safety, environmental and quality standards throughout testing, commissioning and handover, undertaking inspections and audits as required.
  • Provide technical support to project managers and engineers, chair commissioning coordination meetings and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Report commissioning progress, risks and priorities to senior management, using lessons learned to improve future delivery.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience managing commissioning activities and leading teams within engineering, construction or a comparable operational environment.
  • An electrical engineering background, supported by a recognised electrical apprenticeship and SVQ Level 3 qualification, or equivalent.
  • Relevant 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualifications and up-to-date knowledge of BS 7671.
  • Experience developing commissioning strategies, plans, programmes and testing documentation.
  • The ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, specialist subcontractors and suppliers through testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction and relevant Water Industry Mechanical and Electrical Standards (WIMES).
  • An understanding of NEC engineering and construction contracts, safe systems of work and site HSEQ requirements.
  • Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to resolve issues and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, project teams and operational colleagues.
  • A valid ECS card and a full driving licence valid for use in the UK.

Experience within the water or wastewater industry and a valid five-day SMSTS qualification would be advantageous.
