HGV Class 1 Driver - Temporary Position

Very clean work with no loading / unloading expected.

We are a small family firm based in Spennymoor, who value our drivers from day 1, no matter the length of service they have and as such are a firm believer in equal opportunities for all. Due to Peak season coming up we are looking for an initial temporary Class 1 to cover a 5 week period from the 15th of Nov to the 18th of Dec) there may be a possibility of extending beyond the 18th December, and a possible permanent contract once completion of a probationary period. About the job it will be over a 5 day period with the daily rate set at £153.85 (one weekend day required). O/T may be available. There will be a contract completion bonus payable at the end of the contract. It can be up to 12 hour shifts but the average is 8-10 hours. Clean work as box trailers and no loading/unloading required.

HGV Driver Requirements

• Hold a valid commercial Driving Licence with Category C+E (Min. 6 months- experience required )
• Have a Professional Driving Qualification - Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
• Hold a Digital Tachograph / Smart Card
• Comply with all EU tachograph and WTD regulations
• Currently have a right to work in the UK
• Pass a background check to the extent it is permitted by the applicable law
• Be fluent in English both written and spoken
• Have a maximum of 6 penalty points on the Driver’s License (as well as no DD, DR or IN endorsements)

HGV Driver Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient driving
• Be polite and respectful to staff at distribution sites as you are representing the company
• Use the supplied app for route navigation and to stay complaint with arrival/departure times
• Complete daily vehicle and trailer checks as you drop and swap trailers using the supplied app and notify your on call manager of any issues
• Keep the truck clean and tidy
• No smoking in company vehicles

Experience:

• HGV Class 1: 6months recent experience (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Class 1 C + E (required)
• CPC (required)
