Make your mark for patients

We are looking for a Human Factors Lead who is collaborative, patient-focused and proactive to join our Human Factors and Patient Experience team, based on our UCB Campus in Slough, UK.

About the role

You will lead human factors and usability activities for drug delivery technologies, medical devices and combination products across development and marketed portfolios. Working globally, you will plan studies, shape patient-centred product improvements, support regulatory documentation, and manage packaging and labelling content. You will also coordinate external partners, budgets and timelines while ensuring work meets applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

Who you’ll work with

You will be working in a team that partners with technical programme teams across design, development, industrialisation and product life cycle management. You will collaborate with regulatory affairs, secondary packaging, artwork providers, suppliers and patient experience partners to create practical, compliant solutions that address stakeholder and patient needs.

What you’ll do

  • Plan, execute and report human factors and usability studies in line with international standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Prepare clear human factors materials and technical documentation for regulatory submissions.
  • Create and maintain packaging, labelling, user manuals and instructions for medical devices and combination products.
  • Assess products from a patient experience perspective and recommend practical improvements throughout development and post-launch life cycles.
  • Coordinate artwork providers and suppliers, including versions, quotations, negotiations, budgets and timelines.
  • Provide technical input to regulatory labelling activities and ensure compliance with quality management and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent practical experience in human factors, usability engineering, medical devices, pharmaceuticals or a related field. Human factors experience in the Cell and/or Gene Therapy area will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise in human factors and usability engineering, with knowledge of current international standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience planning complex projects and collaborating effectively across technical, regulatory and matrix teams.
  • Experience producing technical documentation and supporting medical device risk management, packaging or labelling activities.
  • Ability to manage external partners, budgets, quotations and negotiations while anticipating risks and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; experience with graphic design software is an advantage.

Are you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients? If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!
