The school is committed to delivering engaging lessons that develop pupils' scientific understanding through a combination of classroom learning, demonstrations and practical investigations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Science teachers to ensure that laboratories are properly equipped, practical activities are prepared efficiently and health and safety procedures are followed consistently.

The Role

The Science Technician will provide essential technical support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping teachers deliver effective practical lessons to pupils across KS3 and KS4, with additional support for KS5 where required.

Responsibilities will include preparing equipment, chemicals and materials in advance of lessons, setting up laboratory experiments and ensuring that resources are available when needed. The postholder will collect, clean and store equipment after practical sessions, maintain stock levels and notify the department when supplies need replenishing.

The successful candidate will also help maintain safe and organised laboratory spaces, undertake routine equipment checks and ensure that materials are stored and disposed of appropriately. Accurate records will need to be maintained, including stock inventories and relevant safety documentation.

Working alongside the Head of Science and teaching staff, the technician will assist with the preparation of demonstrations, support departmental resource management and help identify opportunities to improve the organisation of practical provision.

Requirements

An understanding of laboratory safety, chemical handling and equipment preparation would be beneficial. Applicants should be reliable, proactive and comfortable managing several requests within a busy school timetable.

What the School Offers
