Job description

Role: Reception Class Teacher – Early Years Foundation Stage
Location: Sidcup, South East London
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience

A growing primary school in Sidcup is looking to appoint a caring and proactive Reception Teacher to join its Early Years team as soon as possible. The school is seeking someone who understands how young children learn through structured teaching, purposeful play and positive relationships.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver an engaging EYFS curriculum that supports children's early development.

  • Create a stimulating classroom with opportunities for communication, exploration and independent learning.

  • Develop early literacy, phonics, number recognition and mathematical understanding.

  • Observe pupils regularly, record progress and use assessment to inform next steps.

  • Work closely with teaching assistants to support classroom activities and individual learning needs.

  • Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support children's transition into school.

  • Promote children's personal, social and emotional development in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Candidate

  • Holds QTS and has experience in Early Years or Reception.

  • Understands the EYFS framework and early phonics development.

  • Can create an inclusive environment that supports different developmental stages.

  • Demonstrates patience, creativity and effective classroom organisation.

  • Communicates confidently with colleagues, parents and carers.
