Technical Manager

Technical Manager – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning East & West Sussex £60,000 Permanent Join a growing, well-established engineering business delivering commercial cooling, heating and refrigeration solutions across the region. This hands-on Technical Manager role bridges the office and field, providing technical leadership while developing engineers and apprentices. You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality and compliance while supporting continued business growth. Key Responsibilities * Lead, motivate and supervise engineers and apprentices. * Provide senior technical support on complex faults, commissioning and system design. * Carry out site surveys, technical scopes and equipment selections. * Oversee F-Gas compliance, RAMS, safety audits and quality standards. * Support REFCOM Elite requirements and maintain audit-ready records. * Plan PPM, reactive and project work with the office team using JobLogic. * Support tenders, technical method statements and client meetings. * Monitor job costs, identify remedial opportunities and manage technical complaints. Skills & Knowledge Required * 7+ years' commercial AC/refrigeration engineering experience. * 2+ years' experience supervising or leading engineers. * F-Gas Category 1 and NVQ Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or equivalent. * Strong fault-finding experience across split, VRF/VRV and heat pump systems. * Proven chiller experience, including scroll, screw or water-cooled systems. * SSSTS/SMSTS, IOSH Managing Safely and TM44/energy assessment experience. * Strong communication, organisation and commercial awareness. * Full UK driving licence. * Experience using job management software; JobLogic experience is advantageous.
