Job description

Hybrid working

Festival stages, grandstands, bespoke structural builds for some of the most-watched live events on the calendar, and an Event CAD Technician role where the drawings go global. UK, Middle East, Asia. A boutique specialist team, long-tenured and expert, where your work ends up on television.

- High-profile live event portfolio for your CV

- Direct collaboration with structural engineers and architects

- Clear technical career path within a specialist design team

- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

- Workplace pension

- Time off in lieu for any urgent weekend work

The Company

This is a boutique specialist in staging and structural design for major live events, from festival stages and grandstands to bespoke brand activation structures, with a global footprint spanning the UK, Middle East and Asia. The in-house design team is small, expert and long-tenured, and bringing in a strong Event CAD Technician is a priority because the technical output here ends up at some of the most-watched events on the calendar.

The Role

The Event CAD Technician role sits within a small, specialist design team, producing the precise 2D and 3D technical drawings and Bills of Materials that take a structural concept through to a build-ready package, across stages, grandstands and temporary event structures.

- Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for stages, grandstands and temporary structures

- Translate structural designs into fabrication-ready and installation-ready documentation

- Prepare and cross-check Bills of Materials against drawings for accuracy

- Manage revisions and amendments throughout each project lifecycle

- Select and specify materials and components to meet structural and project requirements

- Maintain drawing standards, document control and CAD file management

- Collaborate with engineers, project managers and clients on technical requirements

- Conduct site visits as required to verify measurements and conditions

The Candidate

The right Event CAD Technician will have a solid background producing technical drawings in events, construction, steelwork fabrication or a related engineering environment, with hands-on experience turning structural concepts into accurate, build-ready documentation. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D is essential, alongside a genuine understanding of spatial planning, temporary installations and construction methods, and a track record of producing Bills of Materials and component schedules to a high standard.

Familiarity with 3D software such as SketchUp, Vectorworks, Inventor or Revit is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from construction or engineering drawing backgrounds who are looking to move into live events are equally welcome to apply.

Permanent, specialist and genuinely international, this position puts your technical drawings in front of global audiences at headline events, which is a combination that does not come up often. Booking for initial interviews is underway now, so send your application across and we will be in touch shortly.
