Job description

Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Health Care Assistant with extended skills and who wants to work in an acute and diverse environment within the Emergency Department.

You will be enthusiastic, motivated and reliable and possess good communication skills and be able to work as part of a large team.

Main duties of the job
You will assist clinical and nursing staff to deliver timely high quality care in line with Trust Values.

You will possess NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent and ideally have extended skills in cannulation, ECG recording and ability to perform Venepuncture.

Qualifications
Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate


Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential

  • Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
  • Experience of working within a team

Desirable

  • Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
  • Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)


Skills & Abilities
Essential

  • Good communication (written and verbal skills)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience with Venepuncture
  • Experience with ECG

Desirable

  • Experience with Cannulation
