Location: The Shot Tower, Morledge
Hours: 37 hours per week
Working Pattern: Covering hours between and on a rotational basis
Contract Type: Permanent
Closing Date: 8th November 2026

The Opportunity
We have a number of opportunities for people to become Civil Enforcement Officers that have a sense of fair play and common sense to patrol and enforce the parking restrictions across the whole of the City of Derby.

As well as issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles contravening those restrictions, you will also work directly with the public to give clear and helpful parking advice.

You will be required to follow clear procedures and use your judgement in a responsible way. Support, extensive training and a learn and grow approach are all things you can expect. For this post you must have the resilience to be able to work outside, mainly on your own and in all types of weathers

What you’ll be doing
You will patrol the city ensuring that vehicles are parked correctly and in keeping with the restrictions.
You’ll be part of a small team within a wider team and working on a rotational basis.
You will use a handheld computer to input all the information needed to issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)
Speaking to members of the public is a large part of the role, from discussing the issuing of a PCN, to giving advice and signposting to other departments, to giving directions

About you
• You will have experience of dealing directly with customers
• Ability to communicate clearly with customers
• Ability to deal with difficult situations
• This post will involve undertaking enforcement both in and around the city centre and therefore a good level of fitness is required.
• Able to accurately follow defined procedures with a minimum of supervision
• Maintain a calm, polite and patient manner
