Job description

Help shape the future of children's hospice care through technology

At Julia's House, technology is more than systems and infrastructure. It is about enabling our teams to provide outstanding care and support to seriously ill children and their families, when they need us most.

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking technology leader to join our Board as an IT Trustee.

This is an opportunity to use your expertise to help guide our digital future, ensuring technology becomes a powerful enabler of our mission. As a trusted advisor to the Board and senior leadership team, you will help us navigate digital change, embrace innovation and make informed decisions about the technology that supports our people, services and communities.

You don't need previous trustee experience. What matters most is your ability to combine strategic thinking with a practical, solutions-focused mindset and to explain complex technology concepts in a way that non-technical audiences can understand.

What you'll bring

We are keen to hear from individuals with significant experience within technology, digital transformation, IT leadership, cyber security, data, systems development or digital innovation.

You'll be someone who can:

  • Provide strategic advice and constructive challenge.
  • Translate technical topics into clear, plain English.
  • Help identify practical solutions to organisational challenges.
  • Support the development and delivery of our digital and IT strategy.
  • Bring insight into emerging technologies and future trends.
  • Help us balance innovation, opportunity and risk.

Whether your background is in the corporate, public, charity or technology sector, we'd love to hear how your experience could help us advance our digital ambitions.

Why join us?

As an IT Trustee, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Use your professional skills to make a lasting difference to children and families across Dorset and Wiltshire.
  • Influence the strategic direction of a respected and ambitious charity.
  • Support an organisation that is committed to modernising and improving the way it works.
  • Work alongside a dedicated and experienced Board and senior leadership team.
  • Help shape the future of technology, digital services and innovation at Julia's House.

Terms of Office

  • Appointment for an initial three-year term.
  • Eligible for reappointment for one additional term, up to a maximum of six years.
  • This is a voluntary role; however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Time Commitment

  • Four Board meetings per year, booked in advance
  • Four Committee meetings per year, booked in advance
  • Attendance at annual strategy and development days.
  • Occasional ad-hoc support or advice between meetings where appropriate.

Committee Membership

You may also be invited to contribute your expertise through participation in a Board committee or working group, which may involve attendance at additional meetings throughout the year.

Join Us
