The Restaurant

Hoppers was founded by JKS Restaurants and Karan Gokani in October 2015, inspired by the toddy shops, home cooking and roadside stalls of Sri Lanka and South India. The first Hoppers, in Soho, served its namesake Hoppers alongside Dosas, Kothu, Short Eats, Rice and Roasts, and went on to secure a Michelin Bib Gourmand in its first year. A second site followed at Marylebone's St Christopher's Place in September 2017, themed around the Tropical Modernist movement of the late Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa. Hoppers King's Cross opened in February 2020, the largest of the sites, inspired by the coastal journey from Colombo to the historic Dutch town of Galle. Most recently, Hoppers has opened in Shoreditch, marking the brand's next chapter into South Indian cuisine.
