Job description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Monmouthshire to assist with the appointment of a Cleaning & Hygiene Operative, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £93.05 - £122.78 per day

Hours per Week: 20

Summary:

The Cleaning & Hygiene Operative role is responsible for maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness across the facility. Working 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM, term time only), the role involves daily operational cleaning duties, handling equipment safely, and upholding health, safety, and safeguarding standards within an educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily cleaning tasks including floor washing, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and litter bin emptying.
  • Undertake thorough cleaning and sanitization of toilet and sanitary areas.
  • Safely operate cleaning machinery such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, and scrubbing equipment.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of cleaning supplies and materials.
  • Ensure the safe and correct handling and usage of chemical cleaning agents at all times.
  • Promptly report any equipment faults or maintenance issues to the supervisor.

Qualification:

  • Relevant training or certification in cleaning, COSHH, or Health & Safety is desirable, alongside a willingness to undertake post-specific training provided by the authority.

Essentials:

  • Previous experience in a cleaning or hygiene operational role.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team under tight schedules.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with supervisors and team members.
  • Willingness to adhere strictly to health, safety, equal opportunities, and safeguarding policies.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable (or willingness to undertake training if required).

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
