Job description

Here for people. Here for communities. Here for you.

What is the role?

Make a difference every day as a Kitchen Assistant at Hafod.

Working alongside the Cook, you will support the preparation, cooking and serving of meals for residents, helping to ensure a high standard of food quality, hygiene and safety. Your role is essential in creating a positive dining experience and supporting residents’ wellbeing.

Please note: We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

This is a permanent relief post and we’ll talk through your availability and what works for you, while making sure we cover the shifts the home needs to provide the best care for our residents.

Some of our homes may have limited public transport links, and some shifts start early or finish late. You’ll therefore need reliable transport to and from work.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist with preparing, cooking and serving meals and drinks.

  • Support food safety compliance, including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) procedures are followed and Food Safety standards.

  • Carry out general kitchen duties such as washing up, setting tables and cleaning.

  • Report any equipment faults or concerns and work as part of a supportive team.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas.

You can find the full job description attached for a more detailed overview of the role.

What you’ll bring

The Kitchen Assistant role is best suited to someone who is reliable, practical and team-focused, with a strong commitment to cleanliness, food hygiene and delivering a high-quality service.

  • A practical, reliable and team-focused approach.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to build trust, listen and work positively with others.

  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety practices (or willingness to learn).

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Commitment to delivering a high-quality service.

Previous catering or kitchen experience is helpful but not essential. Training will be provided to support your development.
