Learning Support Assistant

to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in

SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH needs or other additional learning needs , while others may simply benefit from a little extra support in the classroom. As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and the wider SEND team to support pupils across the school day. You may be: Supporting pupils

1:1 or in small groups

Helping pupils understand and complete classroom tasks

Supporting literacy, numeracy and organisation

Helping pupils remain focused and engaged in lessons

Providing reassurance and encouragement

Supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs

Helping pupils manage transitions between lessons

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff

Encouraging independence rather than doing the work for pupils

The role is varied and you could be supporting different pupils and subjects throughout the day. Who would suit this role?

We're looking for someone who is

patient, approachable, reliable and confident working with teenagers . Previous school experience is helpful, but it isn't essential. You may have worked as a: Learning Support Assistant

Tutor

Support Worker

Pastoral Support Assistant

Experience supporting

SEND, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH or learning difficulties

would be useful. Just as importantly, you'll need to be able to build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and professional boundaries. Why this role?

This is a great route into a mainstream secondary school for someone who enjoys supporting young people but doesn't necessarily want to lead a class. You'll be part of the day-to-day life of the school, working closely with teaching and pastoral teams and helping pupils who might otherwise struggle to access learning independently.
