Housing Benefit Appeals Officer

Responsible for reviewing and progressing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support appeals and reconsiderations in accordance with relevant legislation and council procedures. Using the NEC Revenues and Benefits system, examine benefit claims, decisions, evidence and calculation history to determine whether decisions should be revised or upheld. Prepare clear written responses and appeal submissions, liaise with claimants and representatives, manage appeal caseloads and deadlines, and ensure accurate case records are maintained. Provide clear explanations of benefit decisions while delivering a professional and customer-focused service.
