We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and detail-orientated Extended School Co-Ordinator to become a key member of our school team, ensuring seamless support and enriching experiences for our children beyond the regular school day. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to take ownership of our after-school club and expertly coordinate our lunchtime provision.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern
- Hours: 18.45 hours per week
- Term Time: Monday to Friday, 2.30pm to 6.15pm
- School Holidays: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (for 4 weeks in the summer holidays)
Main Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth and efficient coordination of our full lunchtime service across all school sites, lead our engaging after-school club, and take responsibility for part-management of the Extended Schools Team. This involves effective planning, organisation, and delivery of imaginative, inclusive activities that cater to diverse needs and interests for pupils aged 3 to 11.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Lunchtime Provision
- Oversee the lunchtime provision across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, ensuring all sessions are organised effectively alongside Dining Room Managers.
- Ensure all rotas and timetables are in place in good time, communicated, and followed effectively.
- Liaise proactively with staff to ensure all individual pupil needs, dietary requirements, and medical details are communicated and met.
- Empower lunchtime staff to actively engage with pupils, supporting their personal, social, and emotional development.
- Take rapid action to provide support and resolve challenges as they emerge during lunchtimes.
- Meet with all supply staff at the start of sessions to provide clear direction and set expectations.
- Adhere strictly to school procedures for child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality.
After-School Club
- Manage and lead the after-school club staff team.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver activity timetables approved by the Extended Schools Manager, ensuring activities are engaging, age-appropriate, inclusive, and adaptable for children aged 4 to 11.
- Request required resources in a timely manner and make suggestions for new toys, games, and equipment to continuously develop provision.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for handling and resolving parental queries and complaints effectively.
- Establish and maintain safe procedures for the collection and transportation of children between classrooms and the club.
- Collaborate with the Extended Schools Manager to enhance the environment and maintain vibrant, high-standard displays.
- Ensure all activity areas are thoroughly cleared at the end of each session.
- Adhere to legal duties under the Children Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, and the Health and Safety Act to ensure the safety and welfare of staff, children, and visitors.
About Our School
Beaver Road is a larger-than-average, diverse primary school situated in the heart of Didsbury Village with approximately 1,100 pupils aged from 3 to 11 years of age. Children from Nursery to Year 3 are based at our Beaver Road First School site (M20 6SX), while children in Year 4 to Year 6 are based at our purpose-built Junior School site (M20 2RN) on Wilmslow Road.
