- Bar Manager - Roehampton, London* * *Reporting to F&B Manager * * *Full Time Contract – 40 hours per week on a rota basis to include weekends and evenings.* * *To start as soon as possible* * *Salary : £32,000-£34,000* *Job Purpose* The role includes responsibility for recruitment, performance reviews, training and development of the team, while consistently delivering high standards of service to our members and guests. This is not a high-volume cocktail bar or a busy Central London late-night operation.
The Club offers a more structured working environment, with the Bar normally closing at 11 : 00pm.
On approximately five occasions per year, there may be a requirement to remain open until midnight for special events or functions. The Club is closed on 25 and 26 December, providing the team with guaranteed time off over these two days. The role also includes shorter working hours on selected days towards the end of December, subject to the Club’s operational requirements and rota. The Bar Manager will lead an established team consisting of 2 Supervisors, 3 full-time team members and approximately 10 casual team members. Key Responsibilities * Manage the operation of the Club bars and catering venues, ensuring agreed operational and service standards are consistently maintained. * Manage liquor stock, ordering procedures, stock rotation and weekly / monthly stock takes * Oversee cellar management, liaising with suppliers and ensuring bar cellars and equipment are well maintained. * Create incentive schemes and initiatives to engage the team, improve member service and support special promotions. * Take responsibility for the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of the bar team. * Maintain and deliver consistently high service standards. * Manage the EPOS system. * Develop and innovate the Club’s bar offers to meet the changing needs and expectations of the membership. * Ensure the Club consistently meets Health & Safety and Food Safety Management requirements. * Assist with the set-up and management of functions and meetings. * Liaise closely with the Kitchen and FOH teams to maintain strong working relationships and quality control. * Attend daily and weekly management briefings as required. * Efficiently deliver any additional tasks requested by the F&B Manager. *The Ideal Candidate* While full training will be provided, the ideal candidate will possess : * Management experience within similar high-profile or high-turnover hospitality operations. * Experience managing all aspects of staffing, including permanent and casual team members. * Exceptional member and guest care skills. * Intermediate food hygiene qualifications and Level 3 Food Safety, with a strong understanding of Health & Safety and hygiene requirements. * Good understanding of stock control and EPOS systems. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Confidence in handling complaints appropriately and escalating matters to the F&B Manager when necessary. * The ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. * Excellent attention to detail. * Proven ability to motivate, lead and manage a sizeable team. *Benefits : * * Overtime given as time off in lieu. * Staff Fund of £650 paid twice yearly after qualifying period * 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays, plus 2 additional Life Leave days per annum. * Club closed on 25 and 26 December. * Shorter working hours on selected days towards the end of December, subject to the rota and operational requirements. * Meal whilst on duty. * Uniform provided. * Generous referral scheme. * Up to 15% company pension after qualifying period. * On-site parking. * Use of the Club’s sports facilities on working days following qualifying period. * Staff classes including tennis, golf, pickleball and art. * Employee Assistance Programme and mental health support. * Death in Service benefit of 4× salary * Ongoing training and development. * Career progression pathway The above job description is not exhaustive, and you may be required to carry out task, including weekend working, as specified by the Club that are outside the content of your job description on occasion.
