An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Coordinator to join our dynamic research team supporting the delivery of research within GOSH.
Our diverse Research and Innovation directorate, including the NIHR Great Ormond Street Clinical Research Facility, provides a high quality clinical and academic research environment, in which children and young people can take part in research programmes safely and effectively, according to robust and ethically approved protocols.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, and self-motivated candidate, who will be responsible for providing efficient and high-quality coordination and data management support to the clinical and non-clinical research teams in the delivery of studies, with a focus on a specific study within the dermatology research portfolio.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational skills as they will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks requiring the ability to show initiative, be flexible and adopt a proactive approach to managing their workload.
Based in central London, GOSH offers flexible working, help with childcare and travel, excellent training and development opportunities and assistance with finding somewhere to live.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will work collaboratively with research nurses and consultants, providing crucial administrative support for study activities and preparation of study documentation, ensuring adherence to research legislation.
- Among other tasks, the post holder is required to support the review and process amendments, and coordinate research visits.
- The post holder will support capturing complex clinical data from medical records and research documentation and entering data into electronic systems ensuring that data is recorded accurately and submitted in a timely manner. The candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication with research and clinical teams within the Trust and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders advising on new studies within the portfolio and their progress through to active status.
- Provide guidance and support for Principal Investigators, sharing knowledge of best practice and current legislation/guidance.

- Experience of working in a clinical trial environment in either a pharmaceutical company, NHS Trust or a university.

- Experience of multidisciplinary working, both internally and externally.
- Good knowledge and understanding of the UK/EU legislation for management of clinical research including the Research Governance Framework
- Experience of working on multiple parallel tasks to strict and often tight deadlines.

Essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels
- Computer literate with good IT skills including the upkeep of databases

- Ability to work calmly under pressure, prioritise workload and plan ahead
- Ability to coach and mentor senior academic staff including consultants
