The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Miller - Setter / Programmer to join the manufacturing team.
You will be responsible for producing high-precision machined components on CNC machining centres, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
The role offers plenty of variety, covering one-off components through to medium-batch production, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced machinist who enjoys working on varied and technically challenging projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC machining centres.
- Programme CNC machines, either on-machine or offline depending on experience.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Select appropriate tooling, work-holding and cutting tools.
- Set machines accurately and efficiently.
- Produce first-off components for inspection and approval.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.
- Maintain consistently high quality standards.
- Make tooling and machining adjustments where required.
- Identify and resolve machining issues.
- Assist with improving machining methods, processes and cycle times.
- Work closely with production and inspection teams.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Time-served machinist or equivalent practical engineering experience.
- Previous experience setting CNC machining centres.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of engineering tolerances.
- Competent using precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Positive and proactive attitude.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Haas and/or Fanuc controls.
- Previous 5-axis machining experience.
- Knowledge of OneCNC software.
- Experience machining stainless steel, alloy steels and aluminium.
- Experience working on one-off and medium-batch precision components.
