The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Operations & Maintenance team at an Energy from Waste facility in Slough.

Mechanical Technician Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant systems and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repairs.
• Inspect, lubricate, adjust and maintain equipment to maximise plant reliability.
• Work across equipment including conveyors, gearboxes, valves, steam systems and hydraulic systems.
• Plan, execute and document maintenance activities.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure work is completed in accordance with safe systems of work and HSEQ procedures.
• Support planned shutdowns and outage maintenance activities.
• Identify and report plant defects, hazards and areas of non-compliance.
• Participate in HSE inspections, audits and safety meetings.
• Work closely with operations and other maintenance disciplines to minimise plant downtime.
• Contribute to a strong safety-first culture across the facility.

Mechanical Technician Background

To be considered, you should have:

• A recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent - essential.
• Mechanical maintenance experience within a heavy industrial or process environment.
• Strong knowledge of gearboxes, conveyors, valves, steam systems and hydraulics.
• Experience in fault finding, preventative maintenance, maintenance planning and outage support.
• Previous experience within Energy from Waste, power generation, biomass, petrochemical, manufacturing or another heavy process environment would be highly advantageous.
• IOSH Managing Safely and/or an HNC/HND in Engineering would be desirable.
