Main duties of the job
Flexible banksessions to support service demand, including holiday and sickness cover andseasonal vaccinations. You will be expected to work independently andconfidently across a range of core practice nursing duties.
Core SkillsRequired: Applicantsmust be experienced and competent in:
- ChildhoodImmunisations
- Travelhealth and immunisations
- Routineinjections (e.g. B12, depot)
- Cervicalsmears
- Woundcare and dressings
- Seasonalflu/ Covid vaccinations
Rate £23.53 per hour inclusive of holidayallowance, depending on experience and responsibilities.

Job responsibilities
The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas including
- ChildhoodImmunisations
- Travelhealth and immunisations
- Routineinjections (e.g. B12, depot)
- Cervicalsmears
- Woundcare and dressings
- Seasonalvaccinations
They willwork collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs ofpatients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures, and providing nurseleadership as required.
Person Specification
Experience
- Experience of working as a practice nurse
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse
- Post graduate diploma or degree (Primary Care)
Clinical knowledge and skills
- * Wound care/removal of sutures and staples
- * cervical cytology
- * Venepuncture
- * Chaperone procedure
- * Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly
- * Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel)
- * Understanding the importance of evidence based practice
- * Broad knowledge of clinical governance
- * Ability to record accurate clinical notes
- * Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs
- * Understanding of infection prevention and control measures
- * Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
- * Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy
- * Awareness of issues within the wider health arena
- * Knowledge of health promotion strategies
