Pertemps are recruiting for a confident, organised and experienced Transport Plannerto join a busy logistics hub based at East Midlands Gateway (DE74), near Castle Donington and Kegworth. You’ll play a key role in planning and coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring routes are efficient, cost-effective and delivered on time. Working closely with drivers, customers and the wider transport team, you’ll manage schedules, respond to changes and help ensure the smooth running of the depot.

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 0900am – 1730pm OR 1030am – 1900pm OR 1800pm – 0400am

Pay Rates:

  • Day hours ( Administrator level) £13.45.
  • Day hours (Planner level) £16.00 to £17.35 DOE.
  • Night hours (Administrator level) £14.50 to £15 DOE.

The successful Transport Planner will have:

  • Basic knowledge of transport legislation (driver hours, vehicle compliance) would be advantageous
  • Excellent customer serviceand communication skills
  • Good geographical knowledgeand routeplanning ability
  • Strong knowledge oflocal and regionalroad networks
  • Ability to planefficient and cost-effective routes
  • Confident dealing withcustomers, drivers andcolleagues
  • Strong organisational andtime-management skills
  • Ability to adaptquickly to changesand unexpected issues
  • Previous experience incustomer service, logisticsor transport isdesirable

Your Duties as a Transport Planner:

  • Plan and organisedaily transport routesefficiently and cost-effectively
  • Allocate drivers andvehicles to plannedroutes
  • Ensure deliveries andcollections are completedon time
  • Monitorroutes and adjust when required
  • Deal with customerqueries and provideupdates on deliveries
  • Communicate effectivelywith drivers, customersand transport teams
  • Use route-planningand transport managementsystems
  • Consider traffic, roadrestrictions and geographicalfactors when planningroutes
  • Always maintain a high level of customer service
  • Work to companyprocedures, transport regulationsand health & safetyrequirements
  • Provide day-to-day administrative supportto the transportteam
