Job Title: Science Technician Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire Salary: Dependent on experience Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: As soon as possible About the School: We are recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-equipped secondary school in Oxford. The successful candidate will support the science department by preparing practical resources and ensuring laboratories are safe, organised, and ready for lessons. This role would suit someone with laboratory, scientific, educational, or technical experience who enjoys working in a busy environment and supporting practical learning. Key Responsibilities: Prepare equipment, chemicals, specimens, and practical resources for science lessons. Set up experiments and demonstrations in accordance with departmental requirements. Ensure laboratories are clean, organised, and ready for teaching. Maintain and safely store scientific equipment and materials. Monitor stock levels and arrange replacement resources when required. Carry out routine checks of laboratory equipment. Support teachers during practical lessons where appropriate. Follow COSHH, health and safety, and laboratory procedures. Dispose of chemicals and laboratory waste in accordance with school procedures. Maintain accurate records of equipment, resources, and safety checks. Requirements: Previous laboratory, science technician, technical, or similar experience is desirable. Strong understanding of health and safety procedures. Good attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures. Organised approach to managing equipment and resources. Ability to work independently and as part of a department. Good communication skills and a professional approach. Relevant scientific or technical qualifications would be advantageous.
