Attendance Officer - Thriving School in Birmingham

A thriving school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join their pastoral and administrative team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attendance professional or strong administrator who is passionate about improving pupil attendance, punctuality and engagement. The Role The successful Attendance Officer will take responsibility for monitoring and improving attendance across the school. Working closely with pupils, parents, pastoral staff and senior leaders, you will help identify attendance concerns early and provide appropriate support to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence. Key responsibilities include: Monitoring daily attendance and following up on unexplained absences Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance and punctuality concerns Maintaining accurate attendance records and producing relevant reports Identifying patterns of absence and escalating concerns where appropriate Working closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams Supporting attendance improvement plans and interventions Maintaining professional and effective communication with families What the School is Looking For The school is seeking someone who is organised, proactive and confident when communicating with pupils, parents and colleagues. Previous experience working within a school attendance, pastoral, administrative or similar role would be advantageous.
