Job Description

Hotel Receptionist – Isles of Scilly

Are you looking for an adventure? This could be the perfect opportunity!

If you've ever dreamed of working somewhere truly unique, this could be the perfect opportunity to spend a season living and working on the beautiful Isles of Scilly.

We are looking for an experienced Hotel Receptionist to join the team at a stunning beach front hotel on St Martin’s, Isles of Scilly. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys delivering excellent guest service, has a warm and professional manner, and takes pride in creating a memorable first impression.

As the first person many guests will meet when they arrive at the hotel, personal presentation is extremely important. You will be a key ambassador for the hotel and will play an important role in ensuring guests feel welcomed, valued and looked after from the moment they arrive.

Whether you're looking for a seasonal adventure, a change of scenery or an opportunity to experience life somewhere truly special, this could be an excellent fit.

What You Need to Know

Previous experience working as a Hotel Receptionist is preferred

Experience using Rezlynx or Opera would be highly advantageous

You will have excellent personal presentation and a professional, welcoming manner

You will be confident communicating with guests face-to-face, by telephone and via email

You will be comfortable working in a busy hotel environment and managing multiple tasks

You will need to make your own way to Penzance, Cornwall, at your own expense

You will be required to stay on the Isles of Scilly for the duration of the seasonal contract

The hotel closes for the winter at the end of October 2026

There is an opportunity to return for the 2027 season

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

Has a genuine passion for hospitality and exceptional guest service

Understands the importance of making a great first impression

Has excellent personal presentation and a professional approach

Is friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with guests

Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Can remain calm and professional when working under pressure

Is a team player who is happy to support other departments when required

Takes pride in their work and is committed to providing an outstanding guest experience

Has a positive, flexible and adaptable attitude

Enjoys a peaceful, outdoor lifestyle – this role is better suited to someone looking for a unique island experience rather than a party lifestyle

Your Role

As a Hotel Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing a warm and professional welcome to guests and ensuring their stay gets off to the best possible start.

Your responsibilities will include:

Welcoming and checking guests into the hotel

Checking guests out and processing payments

Dealing with guest enquiries and requests

Taking and managing reservations

Answering telephone calls and emails

Providing information about the hotel and the local area

Liaising with housekeeping, food & beverage and other hotel departments

Dealing with any guest issues or concerns in a professional manner

Maintaining accurate guest records and reception administration

Ensuring the reception area and your personal presentation are always maintained to a high standard

Delivering consistently high levels of customer service throughout the guest journey

The Perks

£2,400 per month

Monthly gratuities

Free live-in accommodation

Three meals a day provided

Share of commission from guests who join the Karma Group Members Program

The opportunity to work in a truly stunning island location

Opportunity to return for the 2027 season

Potential opportunities to work with Karma Group in stunning locations worldwide

Ready for an Adventure?

If you're an experienced hotel receptionist who takes pride in your appearance, enjoys meeting people and delivering exceptional guest service, this could be a fantastic opportunity to spend the season living and working somewhere truly unforgettable.

Apply now and start your next adventure on the Isles of Scilly!
