Fire Door Inspection Solutions (FDIS) is looking for skilled Joiners and Carpenters to complete fire-door installation, repair and remedial work across a range of customer sites.
We provide inspection, maintenance, repair and replacement services that help our customers keep their buildings safe and compliant. Our work takes us into hospitals, schools, residential buildings, defence sites and other public-sector environments.
The work is varied. One day you could be repairing an existing doorset and bringing it back to the required standard. The next could involve replacing hinges and ironmongery, fitting seals or removing and installing a complete new doorset.
This is safety-critical work, so quality matters. We need people who take pride in their workmanship, turn up when expected and understand why getting the details right is so important.
Installing, repairing and maintaining fire doors and doorsets.
Identifying defects and completing the appropriate remedial work.
Replacing seals, hinges, ironmongery and other fire-door components.
Removing and installing complete doorsets when required.
Working in line with fire-safety regulations, technical specifications and third-party certification requirements.
Recording completed work and materials accurately using a mobile device.
Working closely with project managers, customers and other trades.
Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and site conduct.
Supporting apprentices and less-established members of the team when required.
First and foremost, we need someone reliable. Our customers depend on us to complete essential fire-safety work, so you must be ready to arrive on time, work safely and finish each job to the correct standard.
You will also need:
A strong background in joinery or carpentry.
Previous involvement in fire-door installation, repair or maintenance.
Good knowledge of fire-door regulations and safety standards.
Awareness of third-party certification schemes such as IFC, BM TRADA or Certifire.
Good attention to detail and the ability to identify defects.
Confidence completing job and compliance records digitally.
A full UK driving licence.
The ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check.
Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
A positive and practical approach when things do not go entirely to plan—as occasionally happens on building sites.
