Be Part of Something Meaningful

At Thera Trust, we support people with a learning disability and complex health needs to live the lives they choose — with independence, dignity, and purpose.

We are looking for compassionate, resilient, and proactive Support Workers to join our team at Kingsteignton. This is a fast-paced service, where your ability to think on your feet, take initiative, and respond to changing needs is essential.

This is more than a care role — it’s about empowering people to live their best lives, build confidence, and be active members of their community.

About the Role

You will be supporting adults with complex health needs and learning disabilities in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering person-centred, strengths-based support tailored to individual needs
  • Supporting with complex personal care, including moving & handling
  • Providing support with health needs, including medication and specialist routines
  • Enabling individuals to access their community, pursue hobbies, and build independence
  • Responding proactively to situations, using your initiative and judgement
  • Completing accurate, high-quality care records
  • Working as part of a supportive and professional team

About You

We’re looking for people who:

  • Are proactive, confident, and able to think independently
  • Are passionate about inclusion, independence, and empowering others
  • Have a genuine desire to support people to access their community and achieve meaningful outcomes
  • Are comfortable providing personal and intimate care
  • Can work flexibly across long days, short shifts, waking nights, and weekends
  • Work well as part of a team and bring a positive, can-do attitude

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience in health & social care
  • Experience supporting people with complex needs

We provide full training — including specialist training — so attitude and values are just as important as experience.

Why Work for Thera Trust

  • Full induction and ongoing training
  • Opportunities to develop and progress your career
  • Supportive, values-led management and team
  • Be part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of everything we do
  • Make a real, lasting difference every single day

Why This Role Matters

At Thera, we believe people with a learning disability should be leaders in their own lives. In this role, you will empower individuals to gain independence, build confidence, and be active members of their communities, no matter the complexity of their needs.

It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding role, with real opportunities to transform lives — including your own.

What are the Benefits?

  • Annualised Hours, guaranteed monthly salary for full and part-time roles regardless of shift patterns, plus overtime opportunities
  • Flexible working hours for work-life balance
  • Immediate interview and quick start date (subject to pre-employment checks)
  • 28 days Annual Leave including bank Holidays (pro Rata)
  • Employee support line to support you and your family
  • Free nationally accredited training, and the opportunity to earn a qualification and progress your career
  • Contributory Pension Scheme
  • Free Enhanced DBS check
  • Refer a friend and earn up to £300
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Well-being initiatives
  • Access to Thousands of Retail Discounts, including a discounted Health Cash Plan
  • An Employee Council that represents the views of staff about matters relating to work

Apply today and help someone live a life full of the things they love.

We are an equal opportunities employer.
