We are passionate about empowering our clients to live independently with dignity, regardless of age or disability. Our ethos is simple: Your Time, Your Team, Your Life.

Position: Specialist Care Assistant

Location: Paddock Wood, Kent

Hourly Rate: £15.62- £17.52 per hour with enhanced rates on BH and over festive period

Working Hours and Shift Pattern:

This role offers up to 30 hours per week, with a range of shifts available to support service needs. Shift patterns include:

7:00am- 7:30pm

6:30pm- 8:00am

Occasional split shifts:

7:00am- 2:00pm

2:00pm- 7:30pm

The successful candidate will be required to commit to regular weekly shifts, with additional opportunities to provide cover for annual leave and sickness absence. This position involves a combination of day and night working, as well as supporting attendance at routine hospital appointments outside of standard shift hours as required.

Are you a compassionate and experienced carer looking for a rewarding role supporting a vibrant young client?

Due to our service user's ongoing care needs, we are seeking an additional team member to join our experienced and supportive team. As part of the induction process, there will be an initial period of shadowing and shorter shifts to allow you to become familiar with the client and their family before working independently. As the client may require time to build familiarity and confidence with new carers, the initial period of the role will be focused on developing trust, rapport, and a strong foundation for a cohesive and effective care partnership.

Our established team will provide ongoing support throughout your induction, ensuring you feel confident, comfortable, well prepared for the role and to become part of the CCS team.

About the Role

Continuity of Care Services is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Specialist Care Assistant to provide one- to- one support for a friendly and sociable young man in his twenties who lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. This is a unique opportunity to build a meaningful relationship while supporting him to live an active, fulfilling, and independent life. Our client has a fantastic sense of humour, enjoys meeting new people, and values carers who are patient, understanding, and willing to take the time to get to know him. His interests include football, gaming on his Wii, listening to music, and spending time out in the local community.

The role includes providing support both at home and in the community, including accompanying the client to college on designated days. As his healthcare needs can change, there will also be a period of time when support is required within a hospital setting.

Hospital stays can vary in length, and care requirements during these periods may differ from the client's usual routine. Flexibility and adaptability are therefore important to ensure high-quality, person-centred care is maintained at all times.

A confident driver is essential, as you will be supporting community access and social activities using a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV). Please note that there are some restrictions on the insurance which may impact whether you will be allowed to drive the WAV.

Our clients requirements:

  • Personal care
  • Moving and handling
  • Emergency medication administration
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Epilepsy support
  • An understanding of Dystonia is desirable
  • G&J-PEG feed & medication administration
  • Maintaining a safe and tidy environment

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced care professional who meets the following criteria:

  • Previous care experience (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence to drive a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) (essential)
  • A caring, patient, and understanding approach to working with individuals with complex care needs
  • Commitment to promoting independence and delivering person-centred care

Please note:

  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. We do not offer sponsorship and cannot consider overseas candidates.
  • This particular client has expressed a preference for female carers. Applications from male carers are also welcome, as alternative roles are available.
  • Previous clinical skills and experience are advantageous but not essential, as comprehensive bespoke training will be provided.

Ready to join our team?

If you are passionate about delivering high-quality care and would like to become part of the CCS family, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Advantages of Joining our Team:

  • Fully funded and paid training and access to our training academy
  • Higher than average rates of pay PLUS enhanced pay on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays
