Relief Support Assistant - Abergavenny
What you'll do...
Provide daytime and/or night-time staffing cover within 24/7 staffed Supported Accommodation Project supporting young people aged 16 to 24, helping to maintain a safe, secure and welcoming living environment. The role includes offering psychologically informed, person-centred support to residents as required, as well as assisting with the delivery of activities and workshops within the hostel to support residents' wellbeing, independence and development.
What you'll bring to the role...
- The ability to develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with young people
- A clear understanding of confidentiality and the importance of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
- Experience of working within a care, support or similar environment
- The ability to remain calm, composed and reassuring when responding to challenging situations
- The capacity to work effectively on your own initiative, as well as collaboratively as part of a team
- A commitment to delivering a consistently high standard of service to residents
- An understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a hostel setting
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Willingness to undertake cleaning duties and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends and nights, on an ongoing basis
- A positive, constructive approach to addressing project-wide issues and supporting residents
- Experience of managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflict in a professional and respectful manner
