We are recruiting Classroom Welfare Assistants to work across a number of SEN and SEMH schools in the Skelmersdale area, supporting children and young people with additional learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are patient, compassionate, resilient, and committed to helping students thrive both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As a Classroom Welfare Assistant, you will:

  • Provide classroom and pastoral support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and confidence.
  • Support pupils in managing emotions and behaviours in a positive way.
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions.
  • Promote student wellbeing and safeguard their welfare at all times.
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or within small groups.
  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We would love to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school, care, youth work, coaching, support work, or similar settings).
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm and patient approach when supporting challenging behaviour.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Experience with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or behavioural support (desirable but not essential).
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
