Location: Tilewood School, Buckinghamshire, MK18 5AN

Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent Term time only

About the Role

Opportunities like this don't come along often.

Tilewood School is a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire, and we're looking for an exceptional Assistant Headteacher to help shape its future from day one.

This is far more than a leadership role. It's an opportunity to help create an outstanding specialist school where children and young people with Autism and additional needs are understood, valued and empowered to thrive.

Working alongside the Headteacher as part of the founding leadership team, you'll help establish the culture, curriculum and vision that will define our school for years to come. Every decision you make, every relationship you build and every success you celebrate will help create an environment where pupils, families and colleagues flourish together.

If you're an ambitious leader who believes every child deserves the opportunity to achieve extraordinary outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

As Assistant Headteacher, you'll be a highly visible leader across the school, combining strategic leadership with a hands-on approach that supports pupils, staff and families every day.

  • Support the Headteacher in establishing the vision, culture and long-term success of Tilewood School.
  • Lead high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum development to ensure outstanding educational outcomes.
  • Champion inclusive practice, positive behaviour and exceptional safeguarding standards.
  • Drive personalised learning that enables every pupil to achieve their EHCP outcomes and reach their potential.
  • Coach, mentor and develop colleagues, creating a culture of continuous professional growth.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, therapists, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Help shape school improvement priorities, policies and systems as the school grows.
  • Ensure the school consistently meets all statutory, safeguarding and regulatory requirements.

What you will bring

We're looking for an inspirational and compassionate leader who shares our belief that every child can succeed.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
  • Leadership experience within a specialist or mainstream school, ideally supporting pupils with Autism, SEND or complex needs.
  • A passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for children with additional needs.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, behaviour support, safeguarding and school improvement.
  • Resilience, warmth and the ability to thrive within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • A commitment to creating a school where every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed.
  • Key stage 1 and key stage 2 experience is required

An NPQH or other relevant leadership qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
