Job description

Position: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Location: Ascot Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September SENCO Role in a Prestigious Independent School A Prestigious Independent School in Ascot is seeking to appoint an experienced and compassionate SENCO to join its leadership team from September. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop an outstanding SEND provision within a school renowned for its exceptional academic standards, outstanding pastoral care, and commitment to ensuring every pupil reaches their full potential. About the Role The successful candidate will lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school, ensuring pupils with additional needs receive high-quality, tailored support that enables them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with the Headteacher, senior leadership team, teachers, parents, and external agencies, you will oversee Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), coordinate interventions, monitor pupil progress, and provide expert guidance on inclusive teaching strategies throughout the school. This role is ideal for an experienced SENCO or an ambitious teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination who is passionate about creating an environment where every pupil can achieve success. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the school's SEND provision Coordinate support for pupils with a range of additional needs Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews, and statutory responsibilities Support teachers in delivering high-quality inclusive teaching Liaise with parents, local authorities, and external professionals Monitor pupil progress and evaluate intervention programmes Deliver staff training and promote best practice in SEND Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements The School Environment This Prestigious Independent School in Ascot offers an exceptional learning environment where academic excellence is balanced with outstanding pastoral care. Candidate Requirements Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it where applicable) Experience supporting pupils with SEND Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills Desirable Previous experience as a SENCO Experience managing EHCPs and working with external agencies Proven ability to improve outcomes for pupils with SEND Experience leading staff training and whole-school inclusion initiatives How to Apply To be considered for this SENCO position at a Prestigious Independent School in Ascot, please forward an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.
