Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; Job overview You will assist the Clinical Lead Nurse in ensuring care delivery and management of Paediatric High Dependency Unit is implemented within agreed frameworks in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures, values and behaviours. Provide high quality care to level 1 and 2 patients enabling the holistic needs of the patient to be met. On occasion be required to care and manage level 3 patients until the Paediatric Critical Care Transport team arrives. The Sister / Charge Nurse takes responsibility and is required to delegate nursing care within the clinical environment. They provide nursing leadership and are accountable for patient, public and staff experience. Main duties of the job The successful applicant will lead, offer clinical advice and support management of services to ensure the delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate nursing care. They will act as an excellent role model and support the nursing team around them to provide excellent patient care. The role involves working as part of a nursing and medical team to provide level 2 care and stabilisation to children and young people at Royal Derby Hospital. Candidates must be a Registered Childrens Nurse. Education, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements * Current NMC registration * Holds a level 2 PHDU qualification recognised by a UK academic body * APLS * Significant post registration experience, and experience at a band 5 post * Evidence of degree / working towards higher degree or equivalent experience * Recognised Teaching and Assessing Qualification * Appropriate Clinical Speciality qualification/equivalent experience * Evidence of leadership & management training/Equivalent experience Experience & Knowledge * Significant experience in PHDU or PICU * Significant experience as a PHDU nurse in charge * Specific knowledge of the clinical area / speciality * To be able to demonstrate evidence of management / leadership skills gained through theoretical knowledge and or experience * Demonstrable experience of mentoring, supporting, coaching and developing staff * Experience in appraisal and identifying staff development needs * Holds/working towards/desire to become a professional nurse advocate * Provides advice Skills and Ability * Able to identify and problem solve * Able to interpret complex information * To be able to demonstrate clinical expertise in managing complex and clinically ill patients * Experience with complex discharges * Evidence of quality improvement & Clinical Audit/research Our Trust aims to provide the highest quality care to patients within Derbyshire and South East Staffordshire and we want the very best people to work with us.
