Job description
Position: Attendance Officer Location: Barking Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: Immediate Start Available Attendance Officer Role in a Successful Primary School A Successful Primary School in Barking is seeking to appoint a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its committed support staff team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality while helping to ensure every child has the best possible opportunity to succeed. About the Role The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and improving pupil attendance, working closely with the Headteacher, senior leaders, class teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure attendance remains a key priority across the school. You will maintain accurate attendance records, identify attendance trends, communicate with families regarding absences, and support intervention strategies that help remove barriers to regular school attendance. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build positive relationships with parents and carers. Key Responsibilities Monitor daily attendance and punctuality across the school Maintain accurate attendance records using the school's management information system Contact parents and carers regarding pupil absences Identify attendance concerns and support intervention strategies Produce attendance reports for senior leaders and external agencies Work closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams Organise attendance meetings and maintain appropriate documentation Promote a culture of excellent attendance throughout the school community The School Environment This Successful Primary School in Barking offers a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
