Job description
Position: English Teacher Location: Cambridge Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 English Teacher Role in a Leading Independent School A Leading Independent School in Cambridge is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to join its outstanding English department from September. About the Role The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire a lifelong appreciation of literature, language, and creative expression. You will encourage students to become thoughtful readers, confident writers, and critical thinkers through a broad and ambitious curriculum. The department also offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including debating, creative writing clubs, theatre visits, literary societies, and author workshops. Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers who are passionate about delivering exceptional English education. Key Responsibilities Teach English Language and Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that inspire academic excellence Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support extracurricular activities including drama, debating, and creative writing Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment Foster a love of reading, writing, and literary analysis The School Environment This Leading Independent School in Cambridge provides an ambitious and supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve exceptional academic outcomes while developing confidence, resilience, and independence.
