The Role As Lead Engineer for the Portal Reports and Insights application team, you'll design and implement distributed, fault-tolerant systems powering reporting and analytics used by clients worldwide, systems that run nearly 10,000 reports every week.
You'll lead software initiatives from concept to delivery, set the technical bar for the team, and mentor engineers as you go.
Key Responsibilities Design and implement distributed, fault-tolerant reporting and insights systems Lead software initiatives end-to-end, from conception through to delivery Drive engineering best practice across the wider team Build analytical dashboards and data visualisations used directly by clients Mentor engineers and support their technical growth Partner cross-team to keep performance and reliability high at scale Essential: 7+ years building and supporting scalable, distributed systems with open-source tools Hands-on OOP experience (Java/C++) plus a scripting language (Python/Ruby) Experience writing complex SQL (PostgreSQL a plus) Experience with an API framework such as Spring Boot Experience with a public cloud provider, AWS preferred Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience Desirable: Deeper AWS experience: CloudFormation, EMR, S3, EC2, CloudTrail Experience with data visualisation tools such as D3.js, Tableau or Looker Why Apply? xwwtmva Flexible working model based in Belfast Senior Staff-level scope with genuine end-to-end ownership Systems used at genuinely global scale, nearly 10,000 reports a week A company independently certified as a Great Place to Work in seven countries Real mentoring and technical leadership opportunity Next Steps Interested, or know someone who'd be a great fit?
