The role

At Energy Saving Trust, we’re working to address the climate emergency and deliver the transition to net zero. Through our programmes, we support people in vulnerable situations and help reduce carbon emissions across the UK.

We’re looking for an Assistant Programme Finance Manager to join our Energy Redress team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the administration of a large-scale funding programme, distributing millions of pounds each year to organisations working to support people in vulnerable situations and reduce carbon emissions.

Working closely with the Programme Funding and Finance Manager, you’ll take the lead on day-to-day funding administration, quality assurance and compliance activities across the programme.

This role sits at the centre of programme delivery, where you’ll act as a key point of contact for colleagues, helping them navigate funding processes and ensuring grants are delivered smoothly. Alongside this, you’ll play an important role in checking information, maintaining accurate records and leading due diligence activities so that funding is managed fairly and in line with our standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people as well as data; combining strong communication skills with attention to detail. This is not a technical accounting role; instead, we’re looking for someone who is organised, curious and comfortable working with financial information in a programme-focused environment.

The team

You will be part of our Renewables team, working on the Energy Redress scheme. The team manages funding that helps charities and organisations support people in vulnerable situations, improve energy efficiency, and deliver projects that cut carbon and tackle fuel poverty.

We are a supportive and collaborative team with a strong focus on accuracy, fairness and impact. Working with us means you will directly contribute to ensuring that vital grant funding reaches the organisations and communities that need it most.

What you will do

  • Help ensure millions of pounds of Energy Redress funding reaches projects that support vulnerable households and reduce carbon emissions.

  • Take ownership of grant claims, funding checks and financial processes, ensuring funds are managed accurately and compliantly.

  • Lead quality assurance and compliance activities that protect the integrity and credibility of the programme.

  • Be the go-to person for funding and finance queries, providing guidance and support across the team.

  • Produce clear, insightful reporting that helps shape decisions and demonstrates programme impact.

  • Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to continuously improve systems, processes and ways of working.

  • Build strong relationships with charities, community organisations and other partners delivering vital projects across the UK.

  • Contribute to the growth and evolution of one of the UK's largest energy-focused grant programmes.

What you will bring

  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to getting things right.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to confidently manage competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Experience coordinating projects, managing processes or supporting funding, finance or compliance activities.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and confidence working with data and reporting information.

  • A mindset of continuous improvement and a willingness to learn and develop.

  • A passion for creating positive social and environmental impact and supporting a more diverse, equitable and sustainable future.
