Job description
Job summary The Radiopharmacy provides diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceutical products and services across the Southwest of England. The Senior Radiopharmacy Production Training Officer is a senior member of the Radiopharmacy Production Team, working under the departments Manufacturers (Specials) Licence to support the safe and efficient manufacture, quality assurance and supply of radiopharmaceutical products. The Radiopharmacy department is currently undergoing an exciting period of transformation. The Senior Radiopharmacy Production Training Officer will play a key role in shaping the departments training programme, supporting the development and competency of the production workforce, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of radiopharmaceutical production services. Main duties of the job The Senior Radiopharmacy Production Training Officer will be responsible for coordinating, overseeing and progressing production training and competency development for Radiopharmacy Production staff. This includes planning and monitoring training programmes, maintaining training documentation and competency records, ensuring trainees are allocated appropriate training time, and supporting the implementation of training improvements in response to service and regulatory requirements. In addition to these responsibilities, the post holder will undertake routine radiopharmaceutical production activities and support the Deputy Radiopharmacy Production Lead with operational and quality management activities, including audits, observed assessments and invoicing processes. The post holder will provide operational support to the Production Lead and Deputy Production Lead and may undertake urgent operational duties in their absence, including workload coordination and rota planning, to ensure continuity of service delivery. The guidelines covering the operation of these aseptic facilities mean that staff members with certain long term or recurrent medical or health conditions, such as gastrointestinal or skin conditions, can represent a risk of microbial contamination which therefore precludes access to the clean room. For candidates information, our Occupational Health team will carry out an assessment at the stage when conditional offers are made. The assessment will consider whether any candidate would not be able to work in an aseptic facility and/or whether any candidate would be able to work in an aseptic facility with any restrictions or reasonable adjustments. Person Specification Education and qualifications Essential * Science degree or relevant experience Desirable * Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council * Evidence of further training & development in aseptic services or willingness to undertake further training e.g. PTQA or STP qualifications Knowledge, skills and abilities Essential * Good practical skills with ability to work accurately and neatly * Exceptional communication, organisational, time management and prioritisation skills * Highly computer literate (IT experience with spreadsheets and databases) * Good attention to detail * Physically able to participate in the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals with moderate lifting and standing/sitting for long period dispensing * Ability to plan and coordinate training activities alongside operational service requirements Desirable * Good understanding of guidance (national and international) standards relating to Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practice Experience Essential * Substantial experience of pharmaceutical manufacturing (licensed) in hospital setting including radiopharmaceutical and/or aseptic dispensing * Experience of working in a team and independently * Experience of training, mentoring or supporting the competency development of staff Personal qualities Essential * Able to make decisions, work independently, self-motivate and use initiative * Able to be helpful, work collaboratively and be supportive within a team * Respectful to others, treat everyone as an individual * Attention to detail * Willing to learn, open to change Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
