Job description

Position: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) Location: Slough Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September SENCO Role in a Good Primary School A Good Primary School in Slough is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join its leadership team from September. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and further develop the school's SEND provision within a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. About the Role The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for SEND across the school, ensuring pupils with additional needs receive personalised, high-quality support that enables them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with the Headteacher, senior leadership team, teachers, parents, governors, and external agencies, you will oversee EHCPs, coordinate interventions, monitor pupil progress, and support colleagues in delivering outstanding inclusive teaching practices. This role would suit an experienced SENCO or an ambitious teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination who is passionate about improving outcomes for children with additional needs. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the school's SEND provision Coordinate support for pupils with a range of additional needs Manage EHCPs, annual reviews, and statutory responsibilities Work collaboratively with teachers to promote inclusive classroom practice Liaise effectively with parents, local authorities, and external professionals Monitor the progress of pupils with SEND and evaluate intervention programmes Deliver staff training and provide guidance on inclusive teaching strategies Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice, safeguarding requirements, and statutory guidance The School Environment This Good Primary School in Slough provides a welcoming, inclusive, and ambitious learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Candidate Requirements Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete it where applicable) Experience supporting pupils with SEND Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills Desirable Previous experience as a SENCO Experience managing EHCPs and multi-agency working Proven success in improving outcomes for pupils with SEND Experience delivering staff training and leading whole-school inclusion How to Apply To be considered for this SENCO position at a Good Primary School in Slough, please forward an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.
